Dr. Anthony Cooper is an Orthopaedic Surgeon and Head of the Department of Pediatric Orthopaedics at BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH) as well as a Clinical Associate Professor of Orthopaedics at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He obtained his medical and Orthopaedic training at the University of Leeds before completing a clinical Orthopaedic fellowship at BCCH. Additionally, Dr. Cooper completed a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Toronto in the specialty of Healthcare and Lifesciences.

Dr. Cooper treats a multitude of complex congenital and acquired limb deformities including Fibular Hemimelia, Tibial Hemimelia, Congenital Femoral Deficiency, Legg-Calve-Perthes (Perthes) Disease, and Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI). His clinical practice focuses on limb lengthening and reconstructive surgery. His research interests include quality of life and clinical outcomes of children with limb differences, hip deformities, and trauma.

Dr. Cooper is the founder of the International Limb Differences Network (ILDN), an international network of healthcare professionals and researchers whose main objective is improving the quality of life for children with limb differences. Dr. Cooper has also co-lead the development of Limb-Q kids, an internationally applicable patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) for children with lower limb differences.

Dr. Cooper is actively involved in teaching and mentoring undergraduate, medical, nursing, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy students as part of his clinical and research practice. He is also the fellowship director for the department of Orthopaedics at BCCH. He is the

director for the Canadian Pediatric Orthopaedic Trauma Conference. He is also the President of the Canadian Pediatric Orthopaedic Society (CPOS).
