About:
The Reconstructive Arthroscopy and Athletic Injuries Fellowship at the University of British Columbia is a world-renowned orthopaedic fellowship designed to provide a complete experience in Arthroscopic Reconstruction in an academic tertiary referral setting. It offers high volume clinical exposure to arthroscopic reconstruction of the Shoulder and Knee. There is also sub-specialty exposure to Hip and Elbow Arthroscopy, Primary and Revision Shoulder Joint Replacement and Knee Osteotomy and Joint Replacement for interested fellows.
The fellowship is based at the Academic Hospitals affiliated with the University of British Columbia, along with satellite ambulatory surgery centers in the lower mainland of Vancouver. Clinical commitments are rostered so as to provide for an intensive and efficient professional experience. This allows for maximal enjoyment of the celebrated lifestyle of Vancouver and experience of surrounding areas including Whistler, North America’s greatest snow resort and home of the Alpine events at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
Requirements:
Academic responsibilities include participation in weekly rounds, resident seminar series and teaching for both resident and undergraduate students. Involvement in a research project with the ultimate goal of publication and presentation at a major scientific meeting is encouraged.

Highlights:
The Fellowship provides diverse exposure to the treatment and care of patients with activity related musculoskeletal injuries. The Fellow will participate in approximately 500 operative cases during the year, with more than 90% of these as the primary operating surgeon. Previous fellows have gone on to have highly successful careers in major institutions worldwide.
